I wonder if there was ever a stupid enough counterfeiter to make "fake" Federal Pacific breakers.??? How would you ever know you had one? :grin: Certainly not by the lone fact that the breaker wouldn't trip. :smile: (No New Years day would be complete without bangin' on FPE)

Gadzooks! If the photos are correct, I have two counterfeit Square D breakers in the panel in my house! Breakers bought from Home Depot in March of 2006.

The latest recall isn't the only one - The same fakes have been cropping up for many months from various distributors.

I have a machine to test breakers for tripping times, maybe I shouold give the fakes a whirl and see if they really work?

I did that a while back, and they did seem to function properly. You can buy counterfeit Square D breakers online any day of the week from at least 3 Chinese companies that I know about.
