A CT is a current transformer.

Most POCO's require CT's and the can to install them in, on services over a predetermined size.
One local POCO in our area requires them on services over 600amp.
You will need to check with your POCO.

Thank-you! I sort of understood the why, but I wasn't sure about the when. I thought it was over a certain size, but couldn't remember what that was. Thanks again. You guys are awesome as always.

The size where a CT meter is required varies from POCO to POCO.
