Trust me when I say that Marc knows that possibility. Go to the online version. You cannot use te ctrl +C nor Ctrl +V features. His handbook CD would not allow it. The standard CD that you buy separately did not have this feature locked. At least that is what I understand.

I meant no offence. I thought Marc was talking about a PDF file. Not the online version. THe online version is a javascript version, the best thing you could do with that us do a screenshot. A PDF is a while different story. I have a full version of acrobat, and so far I havent been able to highlight some text and copy it to something else. thats all.

Here is some interesting verbiage I found on the NFPA website regarding the 2008 NEC on CD-ROM:

Conduct instant searches by word or phrase with the CD! Download the NEC to:
  • Get precise results with new, refined searching capabilities.
  • View Code text with or without shading behind changes.
  • Print, bookmark, or cut and paste text or graphics at the touch of a key.

I am in the middle of typing out the 2005 nec. Sound crazy? Why yes I know its crazy and stupid but I want to do it just so I can say I did it :)

Well, kind of like when you used to have to hand-copy the teacher's notes in high school, this could prove a very educational (though very lengthy) undertaking. Make sure you include all the acknowledgements and panel proposals, as well as the tables. Can't wait to see that 2005 NEC when you finish it in 2014.

The standard CD works fine but according to Marc the handbook version came locked so you could not cut and paste.
I have the 2005 handbook CD and cut and paste from it all the time. There are 2 versions of the NEC on the handbook CD. I think Marc is saying that the pdf file is locked....I have no idea as I have never looked at the pdf file.
Don

I just looked...the 2005 handbook CD has pdf copies of the 99, 02 and 05 code, but they are are just view and search....cut and paste is locked.
