Is it a no no to cut holes in breaker panels?
We prefer to connect the exterior meter pan to the interior breaker panel with conduit. Often the knockouts don't line up, so we cut a hole in the breaker panel. Is this potential problem? We have not been tagged for this yet. (Have done it at least 10 times.)

Re: Cutting holes in breaker panels.

Remember that the requirements for the enclosure for panelboards are found in Art 312. When you enter an enclosure be careful to follow 312.6(A) or (B) including the tables there.

Also read the labels; Trans A, CT cabinets prohibit altering the cabinet - which means no cutting the cabinet for relocating how one enters/leaves the cabinet with the raceway/cable method.
