I was wondering if the old 4.5" angle grinder would work well for cutting round light boxes in stucco? It works great for cutting receptacle boxes in, but may be of a challenge to cut a circle.

No, but Google does:

I just did a building that had siding that was 4x8 sheets of a masonary cement board material, and I used a rem-grit style hole saw for all of the pancake boxes for exterior lighting, and it was worth every penny!

most of the big box stores that I went to only had small ones, I just did a search online and ordered one in the size that I wanted...

None of my electric drills are newer with the clutch built into them, I have Milwaulkee drills, they will probably last longer than me. I dislike the sudden bit stops and subsequent wild drill moter spin. My cordless drills seem to not like larger hole saws very much, the Panasonic shuts off for a while if I try using a 3" or 4" one in it. So I use a rotozip with the tile bit in it for cutting light fixture boxes in stucco. I am getting really good at cutting circles with it, they almost look as good as the hole saw kind.
