If you're up on a lift cutting lots of odd pieces of threaded rod, the Greenlee threaded rod cutter is really handy.

I couldn't really swear that they were even still made, but it seems they are. About 500 bucks from what I just Googled. You don't need to file or chamfer, because the cutter has a thread profile in the scissors-type dies. As long as you nest it in the grooves before you mash down on the handle, you get a factory type cut. Does 1/4 and 3/8 rod. If you're running big racks on 1/2 rod, you still need to saw the old fashioned way. 1/2" rod, luckily, almost never needs deburred or filed to get a nut to start on unless you really messed up or your Sawzall jumped all around.
