I know we use to be able to daisy chain 2x4 lay ins in 300.15. But I heard rumer that this was no longer acceptable. Is this true or are they making up codes again?
Not to my knowledge but take a peek at 410.130(G)
That's the requirement for the discos in each fixture... nothing to do with daisy-chaining.

Man, you've been an electrician for a long time.
240.5(B)(2) permits the use of #18 fixture wire in lengths up to 50' to be protected by a 20A OCPD. If the total wire length of the conductors in the whips is 50' or less, the code would permit daisy chaining. We see quite a few daisy chains using the 18 ga whips that come with the fixture and of course that is not allowed.
hey 480 - that 1897 code book pricey?
