Are there any code requirements for separation of electrical and communication conduits in underground trench.
 
They don't interfere with one another as much as the communications company may claim they do either.

For future excavation I'd rather they be pretty much together makes life easier for that future excavating.

Never had issues with that. If you need to repair chances are you have dug a big enough hole that at very least the smaller item will have enough flexibility to it to get it far enough out of the way. Items buried four feet deep - you will have a big hole(surface area wise as well as depth) just to be able to work in the hole, unless you have hired some pretty tiny workers.

Place them couple feet apart, you have more risk of hitting one with excavation equipment than if they are close together.

By space I meant a couple of inches so you can get a sawzall in between them to cut back and repair

Just put in two three inch for power and a two inch for fiber/data. About 8” apart, and concrete encased! (Owner gets free left over concrete from a local concrete plant, trucks dump about a yard or two every hour or so, instead of having to pay the recycle plant next door to dump it.)
