I am going to use a 24v dc Pico controller to control two pumps 600 feet apart. I envision no more than 6 conductors needed for two inputs and one output to each pump. Will a typical gel filled telephone cable work for this? It will be pulled into a buried pvc raceway.

Thats right I guess I will have to go take all of those that I ran to outside ac condensors out. It is rated for the use and even rated up to 600 volts and over the distance he specified that would be ideal and it is actually a little cheaper per 1000, then cat 3 or cat 5 for wet locations or direct burial at least at my supply houses. Just ask for direct burial or wet location jacket. You can purchase in 18/2 - 18/7 Belden is the manufacturer I use the most.

As long as I was going to pull a run like this, I'd go ahead and pull 8-conductor T-stat cable, and ground the unused conductors for now, probably only at one end.

Tom,
How far apart are your pull points? How many bends in the PVC? Small cable does not have a lot of tensile strength.

17 pounds pull strength I beleive if I remember right. Not a lot you are correct.

for the above post here is the link to the website and contact numbers are listed. I call them all the time lol.

http://www.belden.com/ part #'s duh 27326a is the 4 wire I use a lot of. Seriously though you can call them on the 1 800#'s they have a very good support staff just tell them what you are doing and the conditions. They do suggest believe it or not that you do not put this in conduit but direct burial it. At least that was the last info I got from them. for this particular wire I use.

You don't miss much that is exactly what they call it... I still call it thermostat cable because I use it for that since it meets all requirements indoor and out. Imagine if the inspectors actually knew that? I always order it in brown lol.
