De-energizing a OLTC transformer with an air switch

Is there any value in placing a Substation power transformer On-load Tap Changers (OLTC or LTC) to the neutral tap position before de-energizing with an air switch (bare switch or high-speed whip)? Does it reduce magnetizing current or arcing when the switch is opened?

Arcing increases with inductive VARS in the load. I would expect the magnetizing VARS to be miniscule compared to the VARS of the load. You might reduce the load VARS a bit by letting the secondary voltage fade to brown before de-energizing. But how much? I can't do the math for you without opening a job number.
