I have a situation where I have several 480 V/208 V delta by Wye transformers and some delta 480 V motors which have been running on grid power(corner grounded delta). But now the customer wants to change over to a Generator for their permanent power source. But the gen. they have is a Wye configuration. Will this be an issue whatsoever?I am not familiar enough with this area of electrical so I figured I could ask you guys.
thanks in advance,

Since 250.20 requies you to use the grounded conductor, any intentionaly gounded delta conductors would create a short.

Yes well I will obviously have to reground all the disconnects.(which I have already done) but are there any other reasons that a delta motor would have any issues being served by a Wye genny?

OK, now to show my ignorance in this area. Why can't the neutral point of the generator output be floated (not use or ground the neutral) and then corner ground the generator output to match the building service?

In my humble opinion:

In my humble opinion:

That is all good.My question is this, will a delta transformer work perfectly fine with a Wye source?

I have no firsthand experience with this, but I would expect that the source does not care about the load configuration. Other opinions?

Of course it will.

Probably the most common transformer sold in the US is a delta - wye 480-208Y/120 construction, and absolutely most of these are installed on 480Y/277 systems.
