Demo/ Safe-Off Power

If you go back and read, you'll see where he wrote "they" (customer, gc...?) want disconnect, but he's not going to provide disconnect - only safe/off and tagged.


That's why I said in post #5 there's no true safe off unless it's disconnected.

I understand all of that but the wording leaves opening to interpretation. As someone else stated, and it seems to me, he wasn't disconnecting the power from the building, not necessarily wasn't disconnecting the circuits being demo'd from the breakers. Either way, we are beating a dead horse. You can have the last word if you wish or leave it here.

I want to show one more example and get some more feedback....there's been a lot already and thanks.

This. dist board has a riser feeding the panels in the pic. They look to be gutter tapped.
So if you just disconnect the feeder at the fused switch source that would kill the entire riser.

1. Would you still disconnect the gutter taps?
2. Would you still disconnect the branch wiring coming out of each panelboard?
3. What would need to be locked out? The fused switch feeding the panels and the panelboards?
4. What would be labeled? I know some suggested no labeling after disconnected but I's think you still want some identification.

If it's to remain as existing, I wouldn't disconnect anything beyond what it takes to make sure nobody will get hurt. If disconnecting it doesn't provide any benefit, there's no reason to go through that process, along with reconnecting later.

3) wherever you remove a load side cable, lock that equipment to keep people out of it.
4) Once disconnected, what would your tags say?

So kill it and walk away. Disconnect and remove from whatever equipment will get locked, so the demo crew doesn't need to get into it

If you tag anything that's getting demoed, your tags are gonna go in a dumpster when the demo crew comes through. What would those tags say?
