Just where does demo stop and wiring begin.Do to a new dividing wall going into a factory we had to move an outlet that would have been covered over. This box had 3 emt entries and 3 circuit 2 neutrals,no circuit numbers on any wires.Had to remove drywall re run emt and pull new wires to 4 outlets and correct a wiring error. This took me and my helper 4 hours. How would others handle this.Had it just been deleet a dead end outlet i agree thats demo.

Re: DEMO

That is usually a pretty grey area. It depends on if it is Time & Material work or Contract work. If I'm getting paid T&M, whatever the customer needs is going to cost them. If it's part of a contract, I would have to ask whoever quoted it if they had figured for it.

It's tough to gauge how things are fed inside of a wall unless you installed it. Demo work is always tough because a lot of time you run into things like that. I think you need to know the exact scope of the work to give a complete answer to your question.

Re: DEMO

It is a contract for demo and new items but this was a way involved involved thing over 2 inches. It was more like a relocate than a remove.I am sure it wont hurt the total job budget and many other demo items went smooth.I am the kind that wants to collect every dollar we can for the company.

Re: DEMO

I can completely understand where you are coming from! My company has a profit sharing program so the more we make for the boss, the more they give us at the end of the year.

We do a lot of re-work in local schools. There was one job where all we had to do was pull a few wires in an existing conduit and add 1 circuit. There was only 1 circuit in the conduit so we figured, not a problem. It was a rigid conduit in the slab and we couldn't get a snake through it so we decided to replace the old circuit and add a new one at the same time. The conduit was full of 20 year old lube (Yellow 77 type) and it was almost impossible to pull the old TW wires out to pull new THHN in. Once we got the old wire out and pulled a mouse through a few time to clean out the lube residue, 4 hours later, we had the new circuit in.
