Derating wires for amps

I'm having same problem. My loads are 7 or less amps. That is one way to look at derating 20 amp wire. 10 amps or less should be fine. By the way, no one can in my case they are protecting in case someone plugs in a space heater or something. My circuits wire directly to equipment. No recpts are even available for use.

you may be able to use the higher breaker anyways, depending on your situation since you say you have no receptacles, look at 2005 NEC 240.4(B)

If you think it's a good idea, provide sufficient documentation to back it up & submit a proposal for the '11. Forms are in the back of the '08. You have until November.


Good call,there are alot of guys who think by using a larger conduit,they do not have to derate,bottom line on derating is it has to be done,and it should be done....
