Designating Sub-panels

I'm installing sub-panels in an industrial plant and I need to identify the new panels. For instance: Sub-Panels "L" and "M" are existing. I'm installing 2 new sub-panels between them. How do I address the new ones? "LA", "LB"? And where in NEC does it explain this? Thanks in advance.

There is nothing that tells how to do it. There is not necessarily any one way to do it that fits all installations either. You could name them Tom, Dick, or Harry if you wish.

The NEC is silent on this issue, it is up to the intaller / designer / customer.
