Customer has a 10×12 shed that was converted into an office. They want a plug circuit and a lighting circuit. Since the shed is detached, does it need to have a subpanel?

Not for a single circuit or a single MWBC, but a 1p or 2p disconnect switch is required.

If you wanted to have a separate circuit for the lights and receptacles, you could run a MWBC and put a double pole switch as the disconnect. Or if both on same circuit, a single branch circuit and a SP switch.

Once you install a feeder to a panel, then ground rods are required. No ground rods needed with a branch ckt, single or mw
