ONCED AGAIN I SAY In My Experience.

all unwanted harmonics

Harmonics are not the issue, current from resistive loads, single phase motor loads, AV equipment, PC's (both sources of triplen harmonics) are the problem THAT IS ANY CURRENT ON THE GROUND generally sourced to a a neutral grounded downstream from the service or seperatly derived system. The job I am presently working on I used a scope and the current is 60 cycle, not the always blamed evil HARMONICS.

isolated grounds

isolated grounds

Do you think isolated grounds are over rated? I did some work in a new sleep-lab and the individuals installing cameras etc. insisted om me installing IG receptacles?

IMO.......I seem to say that a lot lately.

In a properly installed system they are unnecessary, in an improperly installed system they are as likely to be "contaminated" as the neutral was when it was grounded accidentally or on purpose.

BUT, if spec'd; charge for it, install it, make them happy, because if you do not and there are any issues you'll be hung out to dry.
