I would like to know a few things regarding LED drop in flat fixtures. When installing with dimmer does the switched power go to the light, and the dimmer just dims the fixture? Do I run MC cable to the dimmer? what about multiple fixtures, do I junction and make one drop to the dimmer?

0-10v dimming ballasts are a different animal and Yes, you feed the fixture with 120V and then there are 2 control wires for the dimming. There is an Mc cable made specifically for this purpose.

So if I already have 2x2 flat LED with wall switch already mounted in a suspended ceiling and i want to add a dimming on the 0-10v, can i just go from the LED driver to a 0-10v dimmer using mc cable, Or does it need to be a special cable, shielded or whatever.

Recently replaced a gymnasium HID's with LED's. One of them was really dim when we turned them on.

Went to check out connections and found (from the factory) someone connected the 0-10V dimming leads together instead of insulating them on that luminaire. Isolated them and it was fine.

Thats strange, maybe it was a returned light.I was just wondering about adding a dimmer to existing light.

You can go from the driver to the dimmer, no special shielded wire required. There's some MC on the market that has 120V and 0-10V combined, but that is just for ease of installation.

Thank You ActionDave, I would like to leave everything just as it is, and install a separate cut in box and just bring the 0-10 to the dimmer

Since these conductors can be run with the power conductors, they are a class 1 control circuit, so even though it may be tempting to separately run CL-2 thermostat cable, it isn't allowed. Something to keep in mind.

Thank you Kwired, I was thinking of using MC in this office building. With the switch/power already there,Is it ok to just run a piece of MC 2 wire to a 0-10 compatible dimmer, and leave everything else as it is. The 0[10 would not be run with the switched feed.

Should be fine.

The light is already in place, switched power to light, I would just be adding another box and installing a 0-10 dimmer, using only the two 0-10 wires. Just capping the rest.
