Disconnect as a pull box

Is it legal to use a a disconnect as a pull box? The other day I saw an installation I was curious about. There was an 1-1/2" counduit running into the top left hand side of a disconnect and a 1" out of the top right, with the load coming out of the bottom. The 1" ran into another disconnect about 25' away. Out of the second disconnect, there was a 3/4" conduit exiting to feed a 3rd disco.

I have never done this but was wondering if it was legal. Usually I run into a j-box before the disco if I group my circuits in the same conduit. Any thoughts?

thanks for the quick response. So as long as the less than 40% and 75% criteria are satisfied, it's ok.

I think I still prefer the JB. We pull an egc in all conduits even if not required. In this application, I would just pull one properly sized ground and tap in the JB and run one to the disconnect. It's easier to get twin lugs at our local suppliers than 3 hole lugs.
