Disconnect in sight of small motor and controller??

For stationary motors 1/8 hp or less does the disconnect have to be in sight of the motor and controller?

430.109(B) doesn't say specifically that it is or isn't required, it tells you that the CB can be the disconnecting means. This does not relieve you of 430.101(B) which states that "a disconnecting means shall be located in sight from the motor location".

You're right that was 430.102(B). 2005 NEC. Sorry!

Well, that's a first! (NOT :D )

Now IF the (listed)controller is within sight, that covers the disco in sight rule:

430.109 (A)(6)

What then is the purpose of 430.109(b)? Is it to allow a fuse as the disconnect for a small motor? CB's are allowed in a different section

430.109 only specifies the type of disconnect, 430.102 specifies the location of the disconnect.
