Hi all,
I have a 400 amp disconnect switch that will tap off from a distribution board whose main bus is rated 1600 amps. the problem is, the switch won't fit inside the electrical room where the distribution board is. And I have to follow the 10 foot tap rule. Am I allowed to place the 400 amp switch outside the room? (outside the room is a huge parking garage, there is room for it) or does the switch need to be within sight of the tap?

No requirement for the load side Over current protection to be in sight of the Tap,
