Disconnect Switch

Every job I bid I provide all electrical components, up to actually connecting to HVAC equipment. So yes, I would provide the disconnect, and even a whip if they wanted.

says unit heater will be provided with disconnect switch. whoever is providing the heater is also providing a disconnect switch. the question is, does the job require a separate side-arm disconnect in the specs, that is only shown on the electrical print?

I agree, the contract documents call for the Mech contractor to furnish the disconnects with their equipment. This was a pretty common requirement on my projects, not always though.

That’s interesting. All the plans I get have detailed language about division 26 coordinating with division 23, and providing all electrical connections and disconnects required.

I usually even supply bath fans and connect them, but exclude ducting.

If there is a heat pump, air conditioner, or furnace, we will install the circuit at least to the disconnect.

Actually this helps with warranty issues by determining a demarc line. One engineering group I worked with on quite a few projects called for the EC to hit the line side of all HVAC equipment disconnects and the Mech contractor (or the electrical contractor they had hired) take it from there. This way if an issue came up and there was power to the line side of the disconnect it was solely their problem.
