Re: dishwashers

I don't think that would meet the requirement for a disc.
The best method is to install a single, 20 amp receptacle, & attach an appliance cord to the dishwasher.
Takes care of the disc. & makes a quick, neat job !

For a hard wired residential dishwasher can the off switch on the unit serve as the disconnect?Does 422.34 apply ?
It can if the switch meets the requirements listed in 422.34

However many new dishwashers use electronic controls and the switch on the front does not disconnect the ungrounded conductors, it is only a control circuit.

Good Morning Mr. Badger

I tried to find our last two discussions on this topic but was unsuccessful. :(

Why would I need a single 20 amp receptacle?

I couldn?t resist this opportunity. Consider the following statement:
There are 10 kinds of people in the world: Those who understand binary and those who do not.

Why ask why? :D

From my point of view, why spend more money on a single receptacle when a less expensive duplex will suffice?

The code doesn't specify the need for a single receptacle.

What's sad Charlie is I think I get it. :D

Edit: And Bob, You're the one who gets up the day before you have to go to work. :D

Re: dishwashers

A single receptacle may not be required, but it's the way I prefer to do it.
I just think a dedicated circuit should be installed that way.
I also use the same method for circuits to the microwave, & fridge.

Re: dishwashers

Thats fine megawatt. Everyone has their own way of doing things. I don't see any code reason for it and that is all I was getting at.
