distance between the main And sub manel box

There was A topic where A genlemen asked about the distance that A transformer could be from A panel, I just wanted to know in relation to A main feed panel And A sub panel , what would be the minimum distance that both main And sub panel would have to be from each other.

If the covers don't collide, you could have'em side by side with a close nipple connecting.
