How far above a fire place opening can a TV sit if it is a wood burning fireplace? Mantle is 24” above fire opening and 6” deep. Does this depend on TV specs ? Thanks!

This and your other question about installing a receptacle in the stone work above the fireplace makes me think that this is a terrible idea. Is this an existing fireplace?

You need to check all codes not just the NEC.
I am sure fireplace clearances can be found in your local building code.

If there is a mantle, I see no issue setting a TV on it. The building code would cover the location of the mantle in relation to the fireplace opening.

I agree, there is something in the building code about the mantle but not the TV. If the TV is above the mantle it's good.
