hi to all

Pls , i would like to know the required distance between telecommunication cables & power cables according to NEC , ANSI

Regards

thx

thx

Thx e57

i have this article ,, but it doesnt give me the required distance from transformers , motors .........................................................................( Similarly, telecommunications cabling is routed
away from large motors, generators, induction heaters, arc welders, x-ray
equipment and radio frequency, microwave or radar sources )

it just mentioned away , if 1 m is enough or need more

thx

1 meter is roughly 3 feet right? Anyway it would depend on the voltage and EMF/RF noise of the circuit. Of course those type things like transformers and motors with cause more EMF - and more so at higher voltages - but not really spelled out in many places. In either the NEC or ANSI - the further the better would be best beyond 5" for 2000 watts, and 2' at 5kVA. The 02 NEC says only 2" in 800.52(A)2... I call that a judgement call....

How close to motors and transformer would you run communication circuits without them being in metal raceways?
Slightly closer - but since no distance is really given - still a judgement call - but avoidance is best.... Nothing like a hummy phone line....

Communication cables will be in metal racway sure , but there is a distance required to be away from transformers or motors ,

Try these articles,
Also their may be help full answers to your other thread about grounding of telecomunications and IT

08 NEC ART's 725 - 760 - 770 - 800 - 820 - 830
