Job I heard about, big municipal project. It's behind schedule and must be finished by a certain date for "political reasons". EC was told to start the interior wiring but the roof isn't finished and the building isn't closed in. The city electrical inspector tells the EC that, instead of regular MC he has to use PVC jacketed MC. The EC goes to the GC and tells him that there will be a $300K change order. Big fight.

Never heard of such a thing. How is that going to work with regular steel boxes and keeping the water out of them anyway?

It sounds like the EI is doing the EC a favor. No chance they approve that change-order, and the EC won’t be blamed for the GC’s scheduling issues.
