Do you think they could have put a little more effort?

There are multiple violations on this job.

I just thought that this one is the definitive sign of:

1. They do not understand...
2. They do not care...
3. They are just plain lazy...
4. They did not expect me to actually look at the work...
5. They are just adding to the feeling I have been developing of the disappointment I feel towards the direction this industry has been heading.

Right on all counts. My sentiments exactly!

The scariest is that they don't understand.People doing electrical work with out a clue as to what they are doing happens every day. Spend a little time at Menards or the Borg store and you will hear some incredible thearorys as to how that darned electricical works.

I wish all inspectors had pierre's passion for this trade but the fact is..............they don't. I just had an inspector sign off on a commercial complex (four bldgs) and never even got out of the truck. I was there early, all covers off, ready for a walk through. Pfft, what a joke.

I agree with Power Pig on that one. I know I'm not the smartest guy in this forum, but I really enjoy discussing installs, theory, etc. with inspectors who know, understand, and like there job. If you're not trying your hardest, what are you doing?

Took me a while to find it, but this OP reminded me of this:

Remember .... Just cause you can doesn't mean you need to
Nice job  , my feeling is it was a photo shop to start with.

I agree-- that's what made me think of putting it back to the original.

You have most likley had several rough inspections, have pass them all, do nice work and have a good reputation.
For us, a final inspection is with all of the covers in place and the panels labeled. A rough inspection is when they see the terminations.

As you can see in the picture, this is a surface mount installation. Generally speaking there is no roughing inspection with this type of install.
I am going back to the job with the contractor, as I have other concerns and I would like him to accompany me with some tools.
I do not open equipment, so he will need to.

Item 1 to 5 sums it up.

Your OP photo was very nice.

Best Wishes Everyone

Pierre,

Did you actually look under the clamp? How do you know that the paint wasn't *perfectly* scraped off the pipe to the exact size of the clamp?

Aesthetics, you know.....

:D

LOL

Your joking but I have traced out the foot print of foot lugs so I could just grind off what was needed. Of course I do go outside the line enough to show.

This picture is the ground clamp on a water pipe for a newly installed service upgrade I inspected today.

I herd that there is someone in New York that can do a service change in 4 hours. I think these people were trying to break the old record.

It's all the little things that take up your time.
