No engineer here. However if you consider this in conjunction with conductors withstand ratings as not to damage phase conductors it has merit. Good bonding practices along with proper egc will ensure clearing times with out damage in most cases. I see so often poor bonding and too small of egc. It just makes me cringe. I have heard so many times, why tighten up the fitting it is no big deal it has a ground wire. Why bond it to the box there a green wire and so on. There's a reason we bond emt on each end for a gec for a high voltage event. Think about it.
