We have a dock installation that we need some insite on.
After starting work on this private use dock for residential condos, the owner approached us with the notion of adding boat lifts for each slip of the dock. Utilizing a switch for isolation (only one lift per 2 slips able to operate at any given time) we only need to allow for 20 lifts in the calculation. After searching all through the NEC 2005 we cannot find any applicable demand factor for this installation. It is unrealistic that more than 2 lifts will be running at any given time once everything is complete. If anybody knows of any other possible demands we could use, we would appreciate your thoughts. As this was brought up after work was started, we have already installed a 200 A single phase service for this dock and the owner wants the lifts to be 120 V, dual 1/2 hp motor per lift.
