I have a masters in DE by test and wanted to get one in NJ. I was under the impression that they accepted DE for reciprocity.

This site says yes:

http://www.neca-neis.org/state/state_regs.cfm

I called NJ and they said "NO". I was speaking to a woman that was on and off the phone trying to find the answer. There is alot of stuff on the NJ site regarding alarm reciprocity but I could not find electrical.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks, Aaron

To my knowledge, NJ does not reciprocate with any other state. I also tried to get a NJ license based on reciprocity, and the state informed me that they did not have a reciprocal agreement with any state. I am also licensed in Delaware and a few other states, and I had to take the exam in NJ.

This site shows what other states will accept the current states license you selected on screen in. Not the other way around. Although DE and NJ both use the same test De just has a trade exam but in NJ you have to take an alarms test and a business and law test along with a trade exam to qualify for your license.

Mike is right we were told when taking the test in NJ that we could get DE because it was the same testing company, and DE only did NEC where NJ does law and fire also to get license
