Does this micro need dedicated circuit

How come nobody agrees with this?

if its not on within the counter area then it needs its own circuit

Maybe the receptacle in question is within 20" or the bottom of the shelf has a hole and the cord from the microwave is plugged into a counter receptacle.

Nope. The plug was probably about 25" at least above the counter top. I thought the microwave had to be "fixed in place" to require its own circuit?
Or is it that no plugs 20" above the counter top are allowed to be on the kitchen circuit?

Maybe they do. Often we let an answer stand if we think that it has answered the OP question.

Maybe we don't.

(5) Receptacle Outlet Location. Receptacle outlets shall
be located on or above, but not more than 500 mm (20 in.)
above, the countertop.

Why not State exactly where # 5 came from?
Maybe I and others can learn from reading exactly the other four maybe more parts
of an article to understad something!

As mentioned earlier you need a dedicated circuit if the instruction of the appliance calls for one. Other than that if it above 25" IMO you may not plug it in to SABC or extend the SABC to behind the microwave.

Sorry thought that we had already stated:

210.52 Dwelling Unit Receptacle Outlets. This section
provides requirements for 125-volt, 15- and 20-ampere receptacle
outlets.

(B) Small Appliances.
