Dog chewed SEC

If the wire is really on the utility side of the service drop, how did the dog get to it. Lots of distance rules must have been violated. Oh well, another subject. If it is POCO wire (we run our own service drops to the customer's overheard riser or underground meter panel), then it would not be advisable to try and fix it yourself. Also, how would you de-energize it to do the work? Oh...maybe you want to do it "hot" on the unprotected side of a service. Brave guy. I doubt a tape job would satisfy the POCO, but I'd ask first.

See #17. It is POCOs cable and POCO is gonna fix it.

I believe it was on utility side of meter, not service drop. It was on the side of building and happened to pass an area with a patio/deck before hitting the meter below this deck, is why dog could reach it.

There is a listed product that can be brushed on insulated cables that complies with restoring their insulated rating. :happyyes: Might be able to use it. :) AND just for looks put duct tape over the whole "repair". :D

3M Scothkote might be the name for it.

Had a service drop injury at a jobsite once upon a time. I told the Contractor to call the utility and have the drop repaired. He said he would, but in the meantime he thought it best to apply some Scotchkote to the utilitie's exposed unfused hot bare conductor. He told me that when he applied it, it tingled! Brush integral to the metal can. We figured it must be conductive when wet.

dominion power great service

dominion power great service

Ok, Dominion Power replaced the cable at no charge.

That is all well & good. Were any measures taken to prevent this problem in the future ?
Back in OP it was mentioned the owner was selling the house and this was an issue brought up by HI. Hopefully owner is smart enough to keep dog away until he moves.
