Don't mock it....it's a Mockett

Now I think that is cool...I would have to do some research to see if that is a violation in the kitchen but I can see where that would be real handy in an office area or even on a desk...

I can't find the post where these were discussed before......I'm sure someone has it bookmarked.

Ok, Pet Peeve time.
I went to the website and the website indicates:
"Standard configuration: Three 110 volt outlets..."

110? "Ex-squeeze me? Baking Powder?" (Apologies to Mike Myers)

I never watched much of his stuff, though I do acknowledge his talent. But I thought this was "bacon powder."

As it turns out, you're right. I never knew that this is what he was saying. Upon further investigation, this is evidently Wayne's way of saying "Beg your pardon."

What a great forum. "We're not worthy, We're not worthy..."

Great idea, but I agree that the 15 amp listing will kill installation on a SA circuit, at least as a required outlet. Maybe get by as an add on for more receptacles, but I don't think it will fly as a substitution for the required outlets.

Why would the 15 amp rating kill it's use in a kitchen? You're only installing 15 amp rated outlets in there usually. It's not a single recepetacle.

Can I supply the two required SABC with 15 amp circuits? that is the answer...

What is the amp rating of the cords attached to your toaster, coffee machine, bread maker, drink mixer, George Forman grill, Jet Stream oven, popcorn popper, food sealer, mixer, cappuchino machine, etc.? Don't they all plug into a 15A-rated recept?

If the SABC is run with 12 on a 20-amp breaker and this gizmo plugs into a 15-amp receptacle with a 15-amp cord, I don't see the difference.

That's not a receptacle outlet. It's a current tap that plugs into a receptacle outlet. The actual real small appliance circuit receptacle outlet would be inside the island someplace, which would be outside of the dimensional limits the code allows.

Why don't you see the difference? were talking about using these as replacements for the SABC receptacles, not just some fancy gizmo on the counter...

It can never be a replacement. It's not a receptacle. They're functionally no different than plugging in an extension cord someplace, laying it on the island, and attempting to call it the "required receptacle".

Would it be acceptable if it were hardwired?

In my opinion it would be, but a hardwired version does not exist yet. Seems like this is something some progressive company like Arlington or Wiremold ought to jump all over. The device in this post is UL listed the same way that your computer power are strips, for instance. If they came up with a hardwired one, then that would be a real receptacle.
