Door Bell Transformers

Is there restrictions on installing door bell transformers in attic's, I have seen this installation on older homes and recently on new tract homes? I thought because of the high temperatures,especially during the summer months, this would be a fire hazard.

We set a 1 gang above the panel and use a 1 gang blank with 1/2 in ko mount the trans there low volt is open aired and 120 complies

Not a fire hazard but we found that they don't last long as most are protected by a thermo-fuse and if the attic gets hot enough it will open.
