and to stir the pot, in own home only8 use 2 hole straps with screws, especillly in the basement - that way I can use the conduit to support all stuff stored between the joists.

Reminds me of back rooms of retail stores. Any conduit or water line within reach gets used to hang clothes. Worked a huge flea market once. Large wooden signs were hung from 1/2" EMT, making it sag.
