Can you legally connect 2 conductors on a breaker?
Specifically a Sq D 20amp. this has a pressure plate with what what looks like a spot for a conductor on either side. Conductors would be the same size.

Generally no. Specifically, that Square D yes. Look at the side of the breaker for the wire size and combination information.

It should be listyed on the breaker. Generally for the one you mentioned it can accept two.

I would agree that SQ D will accept 2 conductors. But if the info isn't readily available or, when in doubt, you could simply splice the two conductors together and pigtail a short single conductor to the breaker.

I agree with Jim. There is a little image embossed on the SqD breakers that allows 2 # 14 thru #10.
