Not sure if there are NYC guys here but I'm being told that per NYC code ammendments your are not able not run MC cable in and out out of the boxes that are attached to the downlights.

Ask the guy telling you this to show you this in the NYC amendments. We install fixtures like that every day in NYC.

I was also said 'no jumps between light fixtures'. It turned out to be an urban legend.
But guys around here obey that urban legend very often.
Don't forget to keep foreman or boss happy and do what they say.
My next research is gonna be if Exit sign with bug eyes and batteries can be piped or hard wired cause I heard couple of times it requires a box right next to it. Anybody would like answer that?
