Drum Switch Selection for Motor

Hello, I'm looking for help selecting a drum switch for a motor and have a few questions about it.

Motor: WEG W22 single phase (cat ID 00318ES1B184TC-W22) - 3 HP, 115/208-230 V

When looking into drum switches, most have a HP rating of 1.5 @ 115V and 3 @ 230V. In my case, I will be plugging this motor/switch into a typical 120V outlet. The data sheet for the motor gives a output of 3 HP with a rated voltage of 115/208-230 V. Should I assume the 3 HP output from the data sheet is at 230V and less for 115V? Or should I be looking for a drum switch rated for 3 HP @ 115V? Would there be any issue with drum switch with a lower HP rating than motor output?

Sorry, not completely familiar but do you have a link to a starter/contractor you could share?

I was planning to couple this motor to a gearbox/oil pump to transfer oil in/out of barrels and was envisioning wiring in a drum switch to control the direction. If you believe a starter/contractor may be a better route, please advise, I’m just not too familiar with setting those up or for my application.

Something like this, and you would need an overload block if the motor does not have overload protection built in. You would also need a control switch station.

Drum switch 3 hp, 115V may not available in market
Instead, use two magnetic contactors, forward and reversing, low rated drum switch in contactors coils circuits
Provide ocpd upstream
 
Like MTW replied you will not be able to use a 3HP single phase motor on a 20 amp 120 volt circuit.Motor draws 30.2 amps @ 120 volts. Think a much smaller motor would be able to transfer liquids into drums.I installed maybe a dozen three phase drum switches back in the 1970's. Most were mounted on door of large 5' high Hoffman panels. Would wire in the non reversing set of contacts thru the motor stop button to prevent machine operators from reversing a motor while it was still turning. As soon as you transferred handle to the off center position starter would drop out requiring operator to hit start button. Was for equipment that might only had to be reversed once or twice a week. Was cheaper then installing a reversing starter. Also the WEG motor shown is 3 HP no matter if feed by 120 or 240 volts. So if you were to use it on 120 volts you would nerd a drum switch rated for 3 HP @:120 volts and at least motor amps ( 30.2 × 1.25 = 37.7& amps ). Been many years since I ordered a drum switch and guessing they are usually only rated for HP at certain voltage then just an ampere rating.I spent as few minutes to find a price for a drum switch rated for 3 HP single phase @ 120 volts. Nearest I could find was only rated for 1.5 HP.
