Dryer receptacle in bedroom

Just inspected one with a washer and dryer in the bedroom. EC said the owner didn't want to walk all the way to a laundry. Anyway, since the dryer circuit is 120/240 I was wondering if this had any bearing on 210.12 or is the article strictly addressing 120V.

No, only 125volt 15 and 20 amp outlets.

210.12(B) Required all 15 and 20amp circuits to be AFCI protected.

What if this is a gas dryer with a 15 or 20 amp receptacle.

A 220vac 30amp circuit is OK for a bedroom without AFCI protection but not 120 circuits.

I am saying that there is no exception for dryers that are 15/20amp circuits.

I agree with the 120V 15A dryer but this was a standard 120/240V 30A. There was a washer (120V 20A) that had to be put on an arc-fault though.

The OP mentioned that it was in fact a 120/240 volt circuit.

Sure, I just roughed in a house with the laundry in a bedroom, dumbest thing I've ever seen...

I've done this as well.
Basically, the HO was intending to use the smallest BR as a 2nd laundry/sewing room.

Also, done several washers and dryers (as 2nd laundrys) in the master BR closet.

The house I did was the main laundry, I'm sure the kid will get used to sleeping with the washer and dryer running... ;)
