Can a dryer receptacle be installed in a bedroom?
RAYMFL said:Just inspected one with a washer and dryer in the bedroom. EC said the owner didn't want to walk all the way to a laundry. Anyway, since the dryer circuit is 120/240 I was wondering if this had any bearing on 210.12 or is the article strictly addressing 120V.
stickboy1375 said:No, only 125volt 15 and 20 amp outlets.
ivsenroute said:210.12 does not address this issue as an exception so I would have to say NO, can't do it. I am referring to NEC 2005
ivsenroute said:210.12(B) Required all 15 and 20amp circuits to be AFCI protected.
What if this is a gas dryer with a 15 or 20 amp receptacle.
A 220vac 30amp circuit is OK for a bedroom without AFCI protection but not 120 circuits.
I am saying that there is no exception for dryers that are 15/20amp circuits.

stickboy1375 said:Sure, I just roughed in a house with the laundry in a bedroom, dumbest thing I've ever seen...

Basically, the HO was intending to use the smallest BR as a 2nd laundry/sewing room.
Also, done several washers and dryers (as 2nd laundrys) in the master BR closet.
