Dual Function AFCI/GFCI Circuit Breakers

The email I was sent from UL made claim to no more than $5 -- I agree it is a judgement call just thought it was a little trivial about the grounded buss. Consider the cost of installing the box, wire, recept, time in order not to deal with a single wire attachment to the breaker.

I'm guessing others will offer the combo breaker eventually. The plug on neutral - didn't necessarily take much for redesign like it may with other series breakers. That said QO series is not cheap either, I do use it quite a bit myself, but there are those out there that still would rather use something else primarily based on cost, so they will not see any benefit until their favorite (cheapest available) brand comes out with the combo breaker.

Good point. Someone may think that this fixes the GFCI and AFCI section of replacements of non-grounding type receptacles. 406

Also:

(b) A non?grounding-type receptacle(s) shall be permitted
to be replaced with a ground-fault circuit interrupter type
of receptacle(s). These receptacles shall be marked
?No Equipment Ground.? An equipment grounding conductor
shall not be connected from the ground-fault circuitinterrupter-
type receptacle to any outlet supplied from the
ground-fault circuit-interrupter receptacle.

What about the wording in 406.4(D)(2)(c)?

(c) A non?grounding-type receptacle(s) shall be permitted to be replaced with a grounding-type receptacle(s) where supplied through a ground-fault circuit interrupter. Grounding type receptacles supplied through the ground-fault circuit interrupter shall be marked ?GFCI Protected? and ?No Equipment Ground.? An equipment grounding conductor shall not be connected between the grounding-type receptacles.

I'm disappointed that it is Square D that is doing this. I suppose the Homeline breakers will completely cover the neutral bar now.

Have you seen the plug on neutral panels? Neutral runs down parallel to the bus.

Square D does not say what type of GFI it is. Is it a 30ma or 5ma GFI?

It is 4-6 ma. They already have afci with 30 ma--

I agree that the new device provides GFCI protection, but Square D's use of the undefined term, "GFI" does raise that question. They should be using the defined term of "GFCI" in all of their published information.

Square D has them, and was mentioned in the OP. Not sure about any others.
