We are installing a 350KW, 480V generator in a residence. I was reviewing the start up check list. One of the checkboxes is for the emergency stop switch installed. Is this switch required?

This is for a remote e-stop. There is an e-stop just inside the generator enclosure.

That's probably more of a manufacturer question if the generator is installed to code. Disconnects, clearances, etc.
350kw 480v for a residence?!? That's huge Is this for a multi family place, or the bat cave?

Seriously though, that must be a huge house. Why go with 480 volt?
And 702 doesn't require any type of emergency stop switch for an optional standby system. So you wouldn't be violating any codes by skipping it. I would say that if the remote switch is listed for use wth your generator than its not an issue.

I agree with the "Wvy 480v?" question, by the way. They're going to have their own transformer? Is it to feed three 120/240v 1ph transformers?
It may be for the fireman. I would check AHJ if needed by local code.

Missed that cause i was looking at 14 when he first posted.
The last paragraph of B(2) seems like that remote e stop he's asking about will be required on a gen of his size.
Gens over 15kw...require additional shutdown means located outside equipment room or generator enclosure.

On a machine of that rating I would have one anyway whether or not the code requires i.
