Earthquake protection

In what conditions is sizemic protection required. I haven't found it in the code book yet. Please help!

This is not an NEC issue, you will find the requirements and criteria in building codes such as local codes, the SBC, IBC, etc...

Check with your Building Department for your area.

One Code article, 410.16(C) would apply to your question, but that article doesn't mention seismic protection, just the means of support for fixtures in suspended ceilings. Electricians typically refer to the clips on grid fixtures as "earthquake clips".

IBC Chapter 16 addresses seismic protection and design methods. 1621 in my 2000 IBC.
