I am bidding a one room addition to an existing home, as an option the home owner would like in floor heat for their tile floor. The room is about 320 square feet. Warm Tiles does not make a kit that would cover the entire area. They suggest combining two heat cable kits.

Using two 240V kits, if the total amperage exceeds 16 Amps but does not exceed 24 amps they require a relay kit they manufacture in addition to their Programable thermostat. I spoke with their Tech support and they told me that using two
DFT2137 kits would cover approx 290 to 300 square feet, and both kits combined draw only a total of 15 amps in which case both cable kits could be terminated on the load side of a single 240V programmable thermostat that is good for 16 amps.

My questions are:

Has anyone ever done an installation using two cable kits and one thermostat?
If so How did that work out were there any problems?
Does anyone recommend using the relay kit in lieu of what Tech support says?

I have installed a number of these cable kits and this is the first time I would have to combine two of them, I'm just looking for any heads up advice you may have to offer. Thank you

The only time I've installed two sets, I used their relay which looks just like the in-wall t'stat. I mounted it to a 4sq box in the basement.

I don't remember the name of the product, but it looks like orange construction

barrier fence. You need to measure the room & note the location of any

obstructions (toliet, tub, vanity ). The company then makes your heat mat to fit

the room.

I'm in need of a Brand and/or Mfg. for a floor heating system to cover a 250' tile floor. I need to get some $$$ to the GC for this project by this Monday afternoon.

Any help would be fantastic and appreciated.

I did it 2 weeks ago,i used 4 pole contactor and 120v t-stat to control the contactor, you have to run 2 12/2 to the t-stat

I've done it, it can make the layout of the room trickier, but the connections are exactly the same, no big deal.

It's not an issue. Just don't exceed the maz load of the t stat. I have done this many a times. You don't need to bring the mat leads to the same j-box.

If you use a relay make sure you GFCI the circuit as neceessary depending on the code cycle. The thermostats from the heated floor co's all have GFCI protection these days. If using a relayit will offer no protection and it will not do any good with a relay
Make sure to you install the thermo probe and follow the manufactures directions.

I personally like Nue heat and or Suntouch the Cold leads are better made.
