I like the idea of having a lighter cheaper option, something between EMT and RMC.

I never used it but that's what I thought it was too. Apparently it's not, at least by todays standards.

Offshore drilling rigs where every ounce is precious AND there is a ton of Class I, Division 1 locations. We probably wouldn't be dealing with Zone rated locations either but for the fact that the equipment is much lighter.

Ok but what about us everyday electricians that want something a little tougher than EMT on say roofs, but think full RMC is a bit too much?

Apparently, they will find out that it's not worth the trouble.
