...but will he respond?
I dont see why he wouldnt. I am not sure the peanut gallery understands how the cmp is comprised. I want people to understand this process is very political in nature and all of these people are listed and who they represent right after the table of contents in the code book . It is not a bunch of people who are doing this out of the goodness of thier hearts. They are all there because they want something. Denoted by who they represent. In my opinion.

Well, if these guys do respond, I hope they will:

1) Take the time to read the entire thread, overlook the fluff, and recognize the main points and diagrams.

2) Keep an open mind and look at what the section says, not what they think it says.

3) Understand that if it is their intention that the EGC wire be terminated to the box within the box, despite the EMT, then a code change is in order.

If my memory serves me correctly....

In the recent past the code required that all grounding conductors entering a metal box be spliced (joined) together and to the box...no exception.

Is that correct?

Steve, the 2005 code pretty much said that in 250-148(C). But the 2008 version added "equipment listed for grounding" and a literal reading of the section drastically changes what was in the 2005 edition.

Mike is no longer with the IAEI.

You are correct. His replacement responded stating that Mike Johnston is now Executive Director of NECA.

He also informed me that Mike Johnston will be the Chairman for CMP-5 for 2011.
