EGC

With a metal box the EGC (if used) must be connected to the box. If you use a self-grounding receptacle a bonding jumper is not required. There are some other exceptions for different types of metal boxes and covers.

must i use a egc wire in conduit or can i use the conduit as a EGC.

If a wire type EGC is present, it will require you bond that wire type EGC to the box.
