one of these things. pretty simple to wire up but only thing i dont understand is why they make you attach the transformer wire to the power wire in the junction box. why not just wire it up that way internally
That's the same one I use too. The reason why they have you make up that connection is so you can chain several Silent Operator relays and have one thermostat operate them all. See the wiring suppliment, which they haven't packaged with the relay in years:

I dunno. I know you can also use that relay you posted, change around the low voltage connections on the secondary side of the transformer and use it for heating on one contact and cooling on the other contact:

I used one of those relays to control a single 240 volt fan forced unit heater once. It's kind of interesting because the two bimetallics don't operate at the same time, so you have to wait for both of them to operate before the load turns on.

The DP mechanical wall stats are almost the same way, as far as that goes. The one is more or less a "disconnect", and only one contact is the operational contact, calibrated for temperature.
