Electric Car Charger Outlets

In garages, would it be best to install a 50A circuit using #6 wiring for electric car charger outlets? This way, it would be able to handle any amperage that the charger calls for. I understand that they can vary significantly from manufacturer to manufacturer. I was hoping that these would all be standard, one-size-fits-all. I'm trying to include those with every new house I wire, so I can do the same thing every time, and at a set price.

A 50 amp receptacle on a 50 amp breaker requires 50 amp wiring. The size will vary by the wire or cable type used.

Car chargers being considered continuous load, #6awg would depend on whether you are wiring in pipe or if you are talking about NM-B. If NM-B, you would just be good for a charger pulling 44 amps

30/32 amp EVSEs (requiring a 40 amp circuit) are a lot more common than 40 amp EVSEs (requiring a 50 amp circuit). And only a few cars can charge at 40 amps. So a 40 amp circuit to a NEMA 6-50 receptacle would be a practical choice. [Sometimes EVSEs come with a 14-50 plug simply because it is more common, but they don't require a neutral and generally can be ordered with a 6-50 plug instead.]

Remember that the higher wattage Tesla charge port is actually 80 amps. Not many homes can support that.
