guys and gals, curious to hear any methods you have been using to install electric in block walls with no finishes attached to it. Our standard procedure has always been to run with the masons, get a box cut in, install conduit at 3' intervals until we reach above ceiling and sub out, then run MC to each stub out. It is a tried and true method, just time consuming. There are locations that the block is not filled and we could fish the CMU void, but cutting a flush box in afterwards would fall on our scope. Just wondering if anyone was able to think outside the box and find a better method.

We stub up EMT in short sections as you've mentioned. We prefab the boxes and EMT sections and the bricklayer sets them in the block. Cutting and fishing in the block after the wall is installed would IMO be a nightmare. Box in Block Wall.jpg

We do it just like in Robs pic. Some times we'll use masonry boxes.
Yep you've got to put a guy with the masons to make sure they get in where needed.

thanks for the reply's. seems we are all following the same formula. if it aint broke......
A lot of this depends on the bricklayer too. If they're willing to work with the electrician then the task is easier. On our last big project with block walls we sprayed the locations on the floor and the bricky installed the boxes and the EMT stubs as the wall went up. We would have someone (typcially a competent apprentice) check on occasion to see that it was correct.
